Our Care

Whole-person, non-medical support — everything that makes a day at home easier, safer, and warmer.

HearthKeeper caregivers provide non-medical, in-home support for seniors who want to stay in the home they love. Because our visits are a full four hours, there’s time to do things well and without rushing — and time to build a real relationship along the way.

Here is the full range of how we help. Most families use a mix, and your care plan is tailored to exactly what your loved one needs.

Companionship & relationship-based care

The heart of what we do. A familiar, caring presence makes every other kind of help better.

  • Conversation and company: someone to talk with, share a coffee, and brighten the day
  • Shared activities: hobbies, cards and games, music, reading, photos and reminiscing
  • Walks and outings: time outdoors and trips into the community when it’s enjoyable and safe
  • A steady, friendly routine: the comfort of seeing the same familiar faces each week

Personal care & daily living support

Dignified, hands-on help with the activities of daily living, always at your loved one’s pace.

  • Bathing and hygiene: private, respectful assistance
  • Dressing and grooming: help getting ready, honoring personal style
  • Toileting and incontinence care: discreet, dignified support
  • Transferring and mobility: safe help moving about, with fall-prevention awareness
  • Grooming and everyday comfort: the small things that help someone feel like themselves

Meals & make-ahead meal prep

Good food, ready when it’s needed — including on the days we’re not there.

  • Fresh meals during visits: home-cooked, to taste and dietary preferences
  • Make-ahead meal prep: we batch-prepare meals so there’s something good ready for the days between visits
  • Groceries and the pantry: keeping the kitchen stocked and organized
  • Hydration and snacks: gentle encouragement throughout the day

Errands & transportation

We help your loved one stay connected to the world beyond their front door.

  • Rides to appointments: to and from the doctor, dentist, salon, and more
  • Errands: groceries, pharmacy pickups, the post office, and other to-dos
  • Outings: visits with friends, places of worship, and favorite spots around town

Light housekeeping & laundry

A tidy, comfortable home is a safer, happier one.

  • Light housekeeping: tidying, dishes, surfaces, and everyday upkeep
  • Laundry and linens: washing, folding, and fresh bedding
  • An orderly, safe space: keeping walkways clear and the home easy to move through

Medication assistance

HearthKeeper provides medication assistance — supportive, non-medical help only.

  • Reminders: a friendly prompt at the right time of day
  • A helping hand: opening containers and steadying a hand
  • Organization: helping keep what the pharmacy has already filled and labeled in order
  • An extra set of eyes: noticing and flagging concerns to family

Our caregivers do not administer, dispense, or manage medication, and do not provide any medical or nursing service. For families who need clinical medication management, we’re glad to point you toward licensed options.

Respite for family caregivers

If you’re the spouse or adult child doing it all, you deserve a real break.

  • Scheduled relief: dependable coverage so you can rest, work, or travel
  • Peace of mind: knowing a trusted, familiar caregiver is there
  • A partner in care: we work alongside families, never around them

Reasonable miscellaneous assistance

Life is full of small things that come up, and a good caregiver simply helps. Within the bounds of non-medical care, our caregivers lend a hand with the everyday tasks that make a day go smoothly — for example:

  • Organizing a closet or a drawer, or writing out a grocery list
  • A short walk, a little gentle exercise, or help with a hobby
  • Sorting the mail, watering the plants, or feeding a beloved pet
  • Help with a phone, a TV remote, or a video call with the grandkids

If it’s a reasonable, non-medical way to make life easier, just ask. We’re here for the whole person, not a rigid checklist.

A note on what we do — and don't — do

HearthKeeper provides non-medical in-home care. We do not provide nursing, skilled, or medical services — including administering medication, wound care, injections, or any clinical treatment — and our caregivers do not offer medical advice.

If your loved one needs medical or skilled care, or more support than can be provided at home, we’ll gladly help you think it through and point you toward appropriate licensed options — including our sister company, Tranquil Grove, a licensed residential care home in Blue Springs. HearthKeeper and Tranquil Grove are affiliated sister companies.
